The Lamancha was first bred in the United States, by Mrs. Eula Fay Frey in California. It is the only breed developed in the US. They are easily recognized by their short ears, known as gopher, or elf ears. They generally have an easy going and gentle temperament. Bucks usually stand around 30 inches at the withers, while does are around 28 inches.
