Saanens and  Sables were developed in  Switzerland. Sables, which were derived from Saanens, can be any color or combination of colors other than white or light cream.  Saanens can only be white or light cream.  The coloring in Sables is a result of the interaction of the recessive genes from the sire and dam.  They are one of the larger of the standard breeds, the does are heavy milk producers and average 30 inches at the withers and bucks average 32 inches.  They are friendly and sociable.
